A Note on the Passion
Before safeguarding this notebook (August 16), I wanted to compare it to the first vision of the Passion, received on February 11.642 I was unable to do so previously because the notebooks are... in the cellar to protect them from all danger, and I must await the good graces of the others to get them. I thus get them entirely as the others please. This morning I see that the two versions are the same - something which, with my perpetual fear of being the Evil One’s decoy, greatly pleases me.
I think Satan is crafty up to a certain point, but, after six months during which I have never reread the Passion, for it distresses me so much that I feel ill, if I were being deceived or were a prey to Deceit, he would fall into contradiction. For he is never able to do really proper things and always leaves some certain trace of having passed by-Falsehood.
642 The second was on August 11. The Italian edition contains additional short entries for August 15 and 16 and references to passages included in the life of Christ.
